Luther College

Luther College is a private, residential four-year liberal arts college located in Decorah, Iowa. Founded in 1861 by Norwegian immigrants, the college is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church and is home to over 2,600 students. These students are guided in their quest for higher education by 181 fulltime faculty members, 89% of whom hold the highest degree in their chosen field of study. With a low student to faculty ratio of 12 to 1, students of Luther College are assured of a focused relationship with their teachers and are guaranteed that every question they may have regarding their studies will be properly addressed.

The college offers over 60 majors and pre-professional programs that lead to a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree. The most popular majors include Biology, Education and Music.

Cost of tuition and fees for academic year 2010-2011 is US$38,930 broken down into tuition of US$33,330; cost of room of US$2,680 and board at US$2,920. Other costs that may be charged include estimated cost of books at US$910, technology fee of US$150, co-curricular activity fee of US$185, private music lesson at US$350 per semester, and group music lesson fee of US$150 per semester. Financial aid in the form of loans, grants and scholarships for qualified students is extended to help students pay for their cost of attendance.

On-campus housing is available from the first year to the fourth year of college life and although some upperclass students are allowed to live off-campus most of them live in any one of five residential halls.
