Fort Hays State University
Fort Hays State University is a public, co-educational liberal arts university located in Hays, Kansas. Founded in 1902, its first campus stood on the historic grounds of Fort Hays, a military outpost that was placed out of commission in 1889. Two years following its opening, the university moved to another building that was to become its permanent headquarters.
Currently, there are about 10,000 students enrolled at the Fort Hays State University pursuing a degree through the university’s four distinguished colleges; namely, Arts and Sciences, Education and Technology, Business and Leadership, and Health and Life Sciences. These are in addition to the university’s Graduate School.
To insure that all students interested to pursue their degree programs at Fort Hays are able to do so, the university put up its Virtual College through which students can complete their degree programs online at any part of the nation.
Cost of tuition per semester at Fort Hays State University for full-time undergraduate students is US$ 2,257.20 for residents and US$7,148.70 for non-residents. For students pursuing a graduate degree, the cost of tuition per semester at Fort Hays is US$3,131.10 for residents and US$8,316.90 for non-residents. Financial assistance is extended to students who may find the cost of tuition too burdensome.
On-campus housing is available to students of Fort Hays State University. As a matter of policy, all single students who enroll just within a year after high school graduation are required to live on campus in a residence hall or at home with their parents or guardians during their freshman year.
