Kansas State University

Kansas State University is an institution of higher education with its main campus located in Manhattan, Kansas. Officially known as Kansas State University of Agriculture and Applied Science or K-State for short, the school maintains two other branch campuses – one in Salina, Kansas where its College of Technology and Aviation is housed, and the other, known as Olathe Innovation Campus, at Olathe, Kansas. This Olathe campus will serve as the academic research entity within the Kansas Bioscience Park. This facility will conduct research and do experiments on bioenergy, animal health, plant science and food safety and security.

Founded in 1858, K-State was identified as one of the “cutting edge schools” in the United States by a guidebook listing the schools offering the most sought after majors. As an institution of higher learning, K-State grants master’s and doctoral degrees and graduate certificates in a wide-range of majors through its various distinguished colleges; namely, Arts and Sciences; Engineering; Business Administration; Education; Agriculture; Human Ecology; Architecture, Planning, and Design; Technology and Aviation; and Veterinary Medicine.

Today, there are over 23,000 students enrolled at K-State coming from 50 U.S. states and 90 other countries. For academic year 2009-2010, students enrolled at the Manhattan campus pay tuition cost at a rate of US$5,773 for Kansas residents and US$15,766 for out-of-state students. For the Salina campus, the cost of tuition is US$5,454 for Kansas residents and US$14,896 for out-of-state students. To help students pay for their cost of tuition, K-State is extending financial aid in the form of scholarship and loans to qualified students.
