Kentucky Wesleyan College
Kentucky Wesleyan College is a private liberal arts Methodist learning institution located in Owensboro, Kentucky. Founded in 1858, the school was first located in Millersburg where it was initially tasked to train preachers. In 1890, the school was transferred to Winchester and what used to be an all-male college opened its doors to women. It was in 1951 that the college finally moved to its current location in Owensboro, the third largest city in Kentucky.
The Kentucky Wesleyan College offers a comprehensive liberal arts core curriculum that opens the way for students to better understand and appreciate their chosen fields of specialization. Through general education subjects, students are able to arm themselves with the skills and know-how to pursue their major.
The college has three distinguished academic divisions; namely, Humanities and Fine Arts; Social Sciences; and Natural Sciences. It also extends Secondary Education Certification in Biology, Chemistry, English, History, and Math.
The college offers Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degree programs in various majors as well as pre-professional programs in various professional school such as Medical Technology, Law, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Optometry, Physical Therapy and Veterinary Medicine.
Cost of tuition for fulltime students taking up 12 to 18 hours of credit is US$16,870 plus US$ 3,520 for board. Rooms are available at a cost of US$2,920 for semi-private, US$3,450 for premium, semi-private, US$5,000 for private, and US$5,500 for premium, private. To help students pay for their cost of tuition, the college extends financial aid in the form of loans, grants, scholarships and student employment to those who are qualified.
