Lexington Theological Seminary
Lexington Theological Seminary or LTS is a private, graduate theological institution located in Lexington, Kentucky and accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada and the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Although LTS was founded in 1865, the seminary can trace its beginnings to the establishment of the Department of Hebrew Literature at Bacon College in 1836. Bacon College was re-chartered as Kentucky University and the Department of Hebrew Literature expanded in 1858. In 1865, the school moved to Lexington and on the campus the College of the Bible was established as one of several colleges of Kentucky University. The College of the Bible received its own charter in 1878 and was renamed Lexington Theological Seminary.
LTS offers its students four graduate degrees in theology and ministry. These include Master of Divinity, Master of Arts, Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies, and Doctor of Ministry. Cost of tuition per credit hour for all these degrees is US$480. Financial aid in the form of grants, loans, and scholarships are extended to help students pay for their cost of tuition.
On-campus housing is available at Lexington Theological Seminary through 60 apartments, efficiencies and townhouses. Students are allowed to live on campus for the duration of their studies as they work on their degree. Some of the provided facilities are big enough to house a couple with children. The college encourages on-campus housing in line with its belief that living in community with their fellow students will help students to interact with people of various backgrounds.
