Lindsey Wilson College
Lindsey Wilson College is a private and independent liberal arts college located in Columbia, Kentucky. Founded in 1903, the college, although ecumenical, has strong affiliations with the Methodist Episcopal Church. Originally established as the Lindsey Wilson Training School, it prepared students from grades 1 to 12 for eventual enrollment as education students at Vanderbilt University. In 1923, it changed its name to Lindsey Wilson College and began offering a two-year liberal arts program while still keeping the training school within the campus. It wasn’t until 1986 when the school became a four-year liberal arts college and the bachelor’s degree became the highest degree awarded. By mid-1990s the college obtained permission to award Master’s degrees in Counseling and Human Development and in Education Curriculum and Instruction.
Today, Lindsey Wilson College offers Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Arts, and Master of Education degree programs through its six divisions and one school. These include the Division of Business, Division of Humanities, Division of Social Science, Division of Natural and Behavioral Sciences, Division of Nursing, Division of Teacher Education and School of Professional Counseling.
Cost of attendance at the Lindsey Wilson College for academic year 2009-2010 is US$25,365 per year for fulltime undergraduate resident students and US$18,085 per year for fulltime undergraduate commuter students. Other programs charge tuition costs at a per credit hour rate. For graduate students, cost of tuition is US$537 per credit hour. Financial aid in the form of loans, grants and scholarships are extended to help students pay for their cost of attendance.
