Dillard University

Dillard University stands in a lovely 55-acre residential suburb in New Orleans. Since it was founded in 1869 as a private historically black liberal arts school, Dillard has remained true to its commitment to provide the highest quality liberal arts education to its students most of whom come from diverse backgrounds. The university offers Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees in over 35 majors. A large number of graduates of Dillard move on to an advanced degree after graduation.

Currently, there are almost a thousand undergraduate students enrolled at Dillard University with 104 full-time members of the faculty, 62% of whom hold a doctorate degree. The student to faculty ratio is 8 is to 1 which allows for a more focused interaction between student and professors.

The cost of tuition at the university is US$13,000 with an additional cost of US$8,285 on average for meals and housing. As a form of assistance to students who may be having some difficulty with tuition cost, the university extends financial assistance via merit-based scholarships, loans and on-campus employment.

On-campus housing is available for students who want to integrate their life with their educational goals and experiences. Freshmen reside in residence halls, while sophomores and juniors can rent apartment-like suites.
