University of New England (UNE) boasts of natural greenery and picturesque views abundant throughout its 540 acres, including 1.2 kilometers overlooking the ocean. Students also benefit from the US Northeast’s balmy climate and the spectacular foliage during the fall season.
UNE was founded in 1831 in Biddeford, ME. Today, it has another site, its Westbrook College Campus, which was designated a national historic district and located in Portland ME, with 26 buildings, and a reputation for being a leading educator of healthcare professionals, through its College of Osteopathic Medicine, College of Health Professions and College of Pharmacy.
Though its main strength may lie in medicine, UNE also offers various other Bachelor’s degrees, Graduate Degrees, and Certificate courses. In fact, the US News and World Report has recognized UNE as one of the Best Universities that offer a full range of undergraduate and master’s programs. UNE has thirty-nine bachelor’s degrees, including Occupational Therapy, Pre-Physical Therapy, Secondary Education and Dental Hygiene, seventeen Master’s both onsite (including Nurse Anesthesia, Pharmacy) and online (such as Education), and eight Certificate courses including Addictions Counseling, Project Management and Teacher Certification (K-12).
Various undergraduate degree minors are available at the Biddeford campus, including Animal Studies, Environmental Studies, and Health Services Management. Its Doctoral degrees are in the area of medicine. The University also has a satellite nursing program in Israel.
University of New England’s student-teacher ratio is 19:1. Highest total cost of attendance (on-campus, for full-time undergraduate) is at $40,000 for a year.
