Fisher College
Fisher College is a private institution located in Beacon Street in the historic Back Bay neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. It was founded in 1903 by the brothers Myron C. Fisher and Edmund H. Fisher, both education graduates from Iowa, who established the Winter Hill Business College in Somerville, Massachusetts. Selling their curriculum from door to door, the brothers sought to empower the immigrant workers of the city with education that would help them get out of their unskilled employment. Through the years, the school’s curricula was expanded and in 1910, its name was changed to Fisher College. By 1939, an expanding student population moved the school to transfer from Somerville to Beacon Street where it stands to the present. Originally divided into a school for men and a school for women, Fisher College became co-educational in 1998 during which time it also established its Online Continuing Education Division, now credited as being the 12th best online educational course in the U.S.
