Fitchburg State College

Fitchburg State College is a four-year public institution of higher education located in an urban campus in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Occupying a total area of 79 acres for its main campus, the college also owns 120 acres in the neighboring towns of Lancaster, Leominster and Lunenburg for its nature and ecological study.

Founded in 1894, Fitchburg State commits to providing its students with high-quality professional and pre-professional programs with a strong liberal arts and sciences foundation. Since its founding, it now offers Bachelor’s degrees, Master’s degrees, Postgraduate certificates, and MBAs in over 25 academic fields. It also offers pre-professional programs in Dentistry, Law, Medicine, and Veterinary Medicine.

Fitchburg State currently has a total enrollment of 5,201 made up of 3,522 undergraduate students and 1,679 postgraduate students. Guiding the students in their journey towards achieving their highest educational goals is a faculty made up of 191 teachers, 92% of whom are full-time faculty holding a doctorate or the highest degree in their field. With a student to faculty ratio of 16 to 1, Fitchburg State students are assured of focused education in their chosen fields of study.

Cost of tuition for academic year 2009-2010 for full-time, in-state undergraduate students is US$970 a year and US$7,050 for out-of-state students. Costs of tuition for graduate and continuing education are US$249.67 per credit for undergraduate level courses and US$258.75 per credit for graduate level courses. Financial aid in the form of grants, loans and scholarships are extended to students who qualify.
