Massachusetts Maritime Academy

Massachusetts Maritime Academy is a fully-accredited, four-year coeducational state college offering bachelor’s and master’s degrees. It is one of six maritime colleges approved and recognized by the US Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration to prepare graduates for federal license examinations to become maritime professionals, skilled business managers, commissioned military officers and ship safety officers, among many career options. It is located at 101 Academy Drive, Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts, on the seaside of Cape Cod.

Through its Academic Departments comprised of Engineering, Humanities, International Maritime Business, Maritime Safety and Environmental Protection, Maritime Transportation, Science and Mathematics and Social Science, the academy offers undergraduate and graduate programs as well as Continuing Education Programs. Undergraduate Programs consist of Emergency Management, Facilities Engineering, International Maritime Business, Maritime Engineering, Marine Safety and Environmental Protection and Marine Transportation. Graduate Programs are likewise offered in Emergency Management and Facilities Management.

Also offered by the academy are Maritime Education and Training Courses for recreational boaters and fishing communities. Fields of study include topics in safety, navigation, engine maintenance and welding. Continuing Education Programs consist of various credit and non-credit courses that are of general interest to the community.

Direct educational costs would include tuition fees and room. Additional costs for orientation, uniforms and health insurance are charged. In-state students pay about $ 15,036.00 per year while regional students pay $ 15,968.00 per year. Out-of-state students are charged a higher rate at $ 27,675.00 per year. For the Winter Term, the cost of a sea term is $ 3,472.00 while the cost for Co-Operative Education and Commercial Shipping Courses has the same rate of $ 1,559.00. Health insurance cost is currently pegged at $ 1,017.00 per student.
