Millsaps College
Millsaps College is a privately supported national liberal arts college founded in 1890 by members of the United Methodist Church. Still affiliated with the said church, the college is named after its founder, Major Reuben Webster Millsaps who worked with Bishop Charles Betts Galloway and Dr. William Belton Murrah to sustain the college since its founding. It was established in what was then the outskirts of Jackson and can now be found specifically at 1701 North State Street, Jackson, Massachusetts.
This undergraduate institution occupies a 100-acre residential campus in the heart of downtown Jackson. It houses structures that blend history and modernity. Some of the early structures include the James Observatory, Christian Center and the Murrah Hall. While some of the later ones include suite-style dorms and a restaurant that remains open in extended evening hours. Millsaps College is an ideal pedestrian college since the facilities are located within walking distance of each other. Other notable facilities include the Millsaps-Wilson Library and the Campus Life Complex.
