Ferris State University

Ferris State University is a public university founded in 1884 by Woodbridge Nathan Ferris, a teacher from New England who was later elected governor of the State of Michigan and who also later became a U.S. senator until his death in 1928. With its main campus standing in the heart of Big Rapids, Michigan, Ferris State University is the largest university in the state and is noted for the high rate of employment students enjoy after they graduate.

Ferris offers undergraduate and graduate programs from various choices of majors. Its students have a choice of pursuing an Associate’s degree, a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s degree or a Doctor of Optometry and a Doctor of Pharmacy. There are also Certificate programs for adult students who simply want to further their studies to equip them in their chosen professions. Students at Ferris enjoy a student to faculty ratio of 15 to 1 assuring them of individualized and focused instruction. Cost of admission to Ferris State University for academic year 2009-2010 is US$18,420 for full-time in-state students and US$23,175 for full-time out-of-state students. For Graduate students, the cost of tuition is US$424.50 per credit hour. Financial aid by way of loans, grants and special payment schemes are available to qualified students.

On-campus residential housing is available and even encouraged by the university as it promotes socialization among students and prepares them for the challenges of the world outside the campus.
