Kuyper College

Kuyper College is a Christian leadership college located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It was founded in 1939 as the Reformed Bible Institute offering a three-year curriculum that provided fast-track training in foreign and domestic missions. The curriculum was redesigned in 1970 and the college was granted by the state the right to confer four-year Bachelor’s degrees. It was only in 2006 that the college adopted the name Kuyper College in honor of Calvinist Abraham Kuyper who is also known as the “Father of Neo-Calvinism.”

Kuyper College offers a broad range of professional degree programs in business, communication, information technology, education and nursing. However, the main focus of the college is always to educate and train Christian leaders for a life of ministry and service. With a student to faculty ratio of 15 to 1, students are guaranteed the kind of focused instruction they expect from their teachers.

Cost of tuition for academic year 2009-2010 for full-time regular undergraduate students with a load of 12-15 credit hours is US$7,347 per semester. Part-time students pay US$705 per credit hour. Students who want to live on campus have to pay an additional amount for room and board. This amount ranges from US$1,585 to US$3,200 per semester depending on the housing facility and the number of meals included in the meal plan. Financial aid in the form of loans, grants and scholarships are extended to qualified students to help them in paying their cost of attendance.

On-campus housing is encouraged in line with the school’s belief that allowing students to live in community with one another is a way to train them in dealing with different kinds of people.
