Oakland University
Oakland University is a public university located in Rochester, Michigan. Established in 1957, it was co-founded by Matilda Dodge Wilson, widow of the late car manufacturer, John Francis Dodge and John A. Hannah, president of Michigan State College. The school traces its beginnings to a donation made by Mrs. Wilson and her second husband Alfred of the 1,500 acre campus on which to build a new college in Oakland County. Initially called Michigan State University – Oakland, the school changed its name to Oakland University in 1963.
Oakland University offers its students 129 undergraduate Bachelor of Arts programs in a variety of majors along with 99 graduate degree and certificate programs. The university is divided into the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business Administration, the School of Health & Human Services, the School of Engineering and Computer Science, the School of Health Sciences, and the School of Nursing. In addition, the university offers its students various opportunities for training or studying abroad.
Cost of attendance for academic year 2009-2010 for full-time students who are residents of the state is US$19,590 for freshman and sophomore students; US$20,427 for junior and senior students; US$20,284 for graduate and professional degree students; US$30,892 for graduate students of Physical Therapy; and US$23,439 for graduate Executive MBA students. For out-of-state fulltime students, cost of attendance for freshman and sophomore students is US$31,696; for Junior and Seniors, US$33,223; for graduate and professional degree students, US$27,324, for graduate students of physical therapy, US$43,860, and for graduate students of Executive MBA, US$23,439. All these costs include tuition, books and supplies, on-campus room and board, and personal and miscellaneous expenses. Financial aid is extended to students to help them pay for their cost of attendance.
