Alfred Adler Institute
Alfred Adler Institute is a graduate school located in the suburbs of Richfield, Minnesota specially designed to accommodate working adults. This means that classes are generally held in the evening and on weekends, and that students are not constrained to finish their Master’s degrees within three years. The Adler Graduate School offers a Master of Arts Degree in Adlerian Counseling and Psychotherapy, three Specialty Programs, a Post-Master’s Degree Diploma in Adlerian Psychotherapy and a Post-Master’s Licensure Program.
Students getting a Master’s degree can opt to focus on any of the six areas of emphasis:
• Marriage and Family Therapy
• Clinical Mental Health Counseling
• School Counseling
• Management Consulting and Organizational Leadership
• Non-clinical Adlerian Studies
• Art Therapy
With only 218 students reported in 2007 – 83 of which study full-time – the average class size is pretty small and the student to teacher ratio really good. This also means that the institute does not need to offer on-campus housing. Students may find room and board options in the surrounding areas.
The graduate school’s admission process is selective but allows for the difference in each applicant’s academic and work background and so has two types of admission: Full Admission and Conditional Admission. Applicants need to submit a completed application form, personal goal statement, three letters of recommendation, their resume, official transcripts from ALL post-secondary institutions attended, and pay a non-refundable application fee.
Tuition is computed on a per credit basis with the rates currently at $455 per credit. One-on-one didactic fee is $700 and group didactic fee is $430. Students that need to repeat classes at half the cost depending on slot availability.
