Capella University
Capella University located in Minneapolis, Minnesota was the inspiration of Stephen Shank, former CEO of Tonka Corporation, who felt that many adults were under served by traditional universities.
Shank founded what would later become Capella Education Company. In 1993, Shank was later joined by Dr. Harold Abel. Dr. Abel’s credentials includes who had years of experience in higher education and was also the former president of three universities. Together they founded The Graduate School of America. Now, it is called Capella University. Originally, the university offered online degrees in the master and doctoral levels in management, education, and human services and is now a recognized leader of online education.
Now, Capella University provides over one thousand online courses and thirty-four undergraduate and graduate degree programs in one hundred and twenty-two specialized areas of study. Capella University online degree programs include Certificates, Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral programs.
