Dunwoody College of Technology
Dunwoody College of Technology is a non-profit private institution for higher education established in 1914 from an endowment made by prominent Minneapolis businessman William Hood Dunwoody and his wife Kate. In his will, Dunwoody left three million dollars for the sole purpose of building the school, and when his wife Kate passed on, she too left an additional trust to help sustain the operations of the school. Dunwoody’s vision for the college was to serve as the permanent venue through which youth that are not distinguished because of race, creed or color may take up courses on trades and crafts that will allow them to improve their lives by becoming useful members of society.
Dunwoody is one of the top technical schools in the United States today. It offers outstanding education programs leading to Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degrees as well as a wide-range of certificate and diploma programs. With faculty members that are passionate about teaching and who hold the highest degrees in their chosen fields of study, the students of Dunwoody are assured of the best-quality education they expect.
Because of the endowment made by the Dunwoody couple and the support given by alumni, friends and the labor community, Dunwoody College is able to keep its tuition and fee rates reasonable. Cost of admission is determined by the specific course to be taken although the average full-time tuition rate for undergraduate programs is US$11,415 plus required fees of US$1,185. Financial aid, however, is available for students who find the cost of tuition a bit burdensome. There are no provisions for on-campus housing although the campus is situated in an area in Minneapolis where off-campus housing is accessible.
