Mississippi College

Mississippi College is a private, coeducational Christian university affiliated with the Mississippi Baptist Convention. It is considered the oldest institution of higher learning in Mississippi as it was founded in 1826 as the Hampstead Academy. It became the Mississippi Academy in 1827 and later became the Mississippi College in 1830. It is located at 200 S. Capitol Street, Clinton, Mississippi.

Accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award bachelor’s, master’s, education specialist degrees, the education doctorate and the first professional degree in law. Mississippi College offers a comprehensive list of academic choices for its student body. Programs are offered through the college’s School of Business, School of Christian Studies and the Arts, School of Education, School of Science and Mathematics, School of Humanities and Social Sciences and School of Nursing. Under these schools are the various departments in Art, Biology, Business, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Christian Studies and Philosophy, Communication, Computer Science, English, History and Political Science, Kinesiology, Mathematics, Modern Languages, Music, Nursing, Physics, Psychology and Counseling, Sociology and Social Work, and Teacher Education and Leadership. Other options are given through the Graduate School Programs, Military Science Programs and Study Abroad Programs.

The Mississippi College Accelerated Degree Program is offered in two other locations aside from its main campus in Clinton. Through its Madison and Brandon Campuses which are both located in Mississippi, more students can access the offered 8-week sessions that accelerate degree completion. Classes are held on Monday and Thursday evenings in all three campuses.

The estimated total annual expense for full-time undergraduate students is $ 19,310.00, not including books and personal expenses. Part-time undergraduate tuition cost is $ 397.00 per credit hour. Fees can be paid by semester or by monthly payment plan.
