Central Methodist University

Central Methodist University (CMU) was founded by Nathan Scarritt and David Rice McAnally in 1853 and chartered two years later in 1855. CMU’s main campus is located in Fayette, Missouri with campus centers spread throughout the state in Clinton, Columbia, Lake of the Ozarks, Park Hills, Poplar Bluff, Sedalia, Trenton and Union, including a satellite center in St. Louis.

CMU confers nearly thirty baccalaureate degrees, three graduate degrees (education, nursing, and clinical counseling) and about seven associate degrees.

Its undergraduate degree programs include: Accounting, Athletic Training, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Child Development, Communication Studies, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Education, English, Environmental Science, History, Marine Biology, Mathematics, Music, Music Education, Nursing, Philosophy, Physical Education, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Recreation Management, Religion, Sociology, Spanish, and Theatre Arts.

CMU’s associate degree programs include: Accounting, Business, Chemistry, Child Development, Computer Science, English, and Psychology.

CMU also runs a cooperative program in Pre-Law, Medical Technology, Engineering, Military Science, Osteopathic Medicine, and Physical Therapy.
As a result of these cooperative programs with selected schools, students can complete their undergraduate degrees while at the same time advancing their studies in Pre-Law, Medical Technology, Engineering, Military Science, Osteopathic Medicine, and Physical Therapy.

More than 3,500 undergraduate and graduate students enroll at Central Methodist University. It has an average class size of 16 students and a student to faculty ratio of 14 to 1.

Academic cost for 2009-2010 College of Liberal Arts & Sciences students amounts to $24,910 (includes room and board). For the College of Graduate & Extended Studies, undergraduate costs amount to $180 per credit hour; Master of Clinical Counseling – $220 per credit hour; Master of Education – $220 per credit hour; and Master of Nursing – $350 per credit hour. Online courses cost $220 per credit hour for undergraduates and $260 per credit hour for graduates.
