Eden Theological Seminary
Eden Theological Seminary is a graduate school that prepares men and women for ordained Christian ministry. It was established in 1850 in Marthasville, Missouri to provide adequate education to pastors for Evangelical Churches in North America. It got its present name in 1883 upon its transfer to Wellston, Missouri. Another transfer brought it to its present site in Webster Groves, Missouri. Its official address is 475 East Lockwood Avenue, Saint Louis, Missouri.
Eden as one of the seminaries of the United Church of Christ commits itself to the study of theology in direct relation to the ecumenical Christian community as well as the contemporary world. The seminary invites prospective students to attend their “24 Hours at Eden” events to truly experience what Eden has to offer. The so-called Eden Experience draws on interrelated experiences rather than depend solely on a series of courses to provide its educational programs.
Degrees offered by Eden include the Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies, Master of Theological Studies, Doctor of Ministry and the Dual Degree (M. Div/MSW or MAPS/MSW) which is offered in partnership with Washington University. Online programs are also offered in addition to traditional on-campus classes. Eden encourages students to live on campus and provides affordable housing facilities to accommodate them and their families. Commuter housing is also available for the overnight housing needs of commuter students.
Eden Theological Seminary has adapted a flat tuition policy which provides for the same annual fee for each student regardless of the number of credits. The Master of Divinity Program costs about $ 12,200.00 per academic year while the Master of Theological Studies and Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies Program cost about $ 9,400.00 per academic year. A 3-hour course for the Doctor of Divinity Program or Non-Degree Courses cost $ 1,230.00 per semester. Related mandatory fees include the student fee, matriculation and graduation fee.
