Harris-Stowe State University

Harris-Stowe State University is a public, historically Black public university located in St. Louis, Missouri. Established in 1857 as a normal school providing teacher education, Harris-Stowe is among the oldest institutions of higher education located in Missouri. Initially called the Harris-Stowe State College, the school was renamed Harris-Stowe State University in 2005.

The state university offers degrees in Bachelor of Science with majors in Education, Urban Education, Business Administration with areas of specialization, Health Care Administration, Accounting, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Information Systems and Computer Technology with areas of specialization. The university also offers various opportunities for learning by way of workshops, field experiences and more.

Cost of tuition per semester at Harris-Stowe University is US$3,280 for in-state students and US$6,461.60 for out-of-state students. An additional US$200 is added for the required fees which include a Technology Fee, Student Center Fee and a Student Activity Fee. To assist students in the payment of tuition and fees, the university extends financial aid in the form of loans, grants, and scholarships to qualified students.

On-campus housing facilities are available at Harris-Stowe State University via the newly opened Rev. Dr. William G. Gillespie Residence Hall and Student Center which can house 228 students in four-bedroom suites. This housing facility is equipped with a common living and dining area, a small kitchen and two bathrooms. It also has a work-out area and a laundry room. The first-ever residential hall in Harris-Stowe, the new facility charges an annual fee of US$7,860.80 and this includes fees for room and board as well as insurance.
