Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences

Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (KCUMB) is a non-profit, private institution for higher learning located in Kansas City, Missouri. Founded in 1916 by George J. Conley, D.O. it is the oldest medical school in Kansas City and the biggest in Missouri. KCUMB’s mission is to provide excellent and high-quality education to qualified students in the field of osteopathic medicine and life sciences. Since its inception, KCUMB has gone through several name changes. First it was established as the Kansas City College of Osteopathy and Surgery. Then it became the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine. It was only in 2004 that the school was finally given the name it still uses today – Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences.

Today, the university, which is divided into the College of Osteopathic Medicine and the College of Biosciences, offers graduate degrees in medicine, biomedical sciences and bioethics. It also grants a combined Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree and an MBA in Healthcare Leadership program with the goal to train students for careers in medical administration.

Cost of tuition for students enrolled in the College of Osteopathic Medicine is US$39,436 per year plus fees of US$2,050. Those enrolled in the College of Biosciences pay an annual tuition of US$25,310 for Biomedical Sciences or US$19,500 for Bioethics. They are also charged required fees in the amount of US$2,000. To help students in paying for their cost of attendance, financial aid is extended by way of scholarships and loans.

On-campus housing is not provided for students of KCUMB.
