Lincoln University of Missouri
Lincoln University of Missouri is a historically Black university located in Jefferson City, Missouri. Founded in 1866 under the name Lincoln Institute, the school aimed to provide education to African-Americans that would combine academics and labor. In 1921, the state of Missouri officially designated the school as a university and, in the same year, expanded its operations and began offering graduate programs. Lincoln Institute was renamed Lincoln University of Missouri. It offers both undergraduate and graduate courses.
Lincoln University is divided into three distinct colleges and one school through which it is able to make available its wide range of academic programs and degrees. These colleges and school include the College of Business and Professional Studies, College of Liberal Arts, Education and Journalism, College of Natural Science, Mathematics and Technology, and School of Graduate Studies and Continuing Education.
Cost of attendance for academic year 2009-2010 at Lincoln University is US$189.50 per credit hour for undergraduate, Missouri resident students and US$346.50 for undergraduate non-residents. For graduate students, cost of tuition is US$232.50 per credit hour for Missouri residents and US$431.50 per credit hour for non-residents. Senior citizens enrolled in the university pay US$25 per semester. Those who want to avail of on-campus housing have to pay an additional fee of US$1,214 to US$2,025 for double occupancy rooms; US$1,718 to US$2,525 for single occupancy rooms; and US$2,621 for apartment-style dwellings that can accommodate four people. For board or meals on campus there is an additional fee per semester of US$1,116 for a 19-meal plan; US$1,029 for a 14-meal plan; and US$897 for a 10-meal plan.
To help students pay for their tuition, financial aid is extended in the form of loans, grants and scholarships.
