Lindenwood University

Lindenwood University is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in St. Charles, Missouri. Founded in 1827 by George and Mary Easton Sibley, Lindenwood is the second oldest institution of higher education on the west side of the Mississippi River. The history of the university can be traced to the establishment of the Linden Wood School for Girls in 1827 under Mary Sibley which was taken over by Dennis Spellman in 1989 when the school began experiencing financial problems. He implemented some changes and in 2006 at the time of his death, the school had more than US50 million in endowments. Dr. James Evans became Lindenwood’s 21st president in 2007.

Today, Lindenwood is a dynamic liberal arts institution offering more than 120 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Student enrollment has gone as high as 14,500. Faculty members and staff remain committed to insuring the total development of each and every student so that he or she “becomes an enlightened, principled citizen of a global community.”

Cost of attendance for academic year 2009-2010 is US$20,360 for fulltime, resident undergraduate students. This includes full-year tuition, room and board and typical required fees. For part-time undergraduate students, the cost of tuition per credit hour is US$370. For fulltime graduate students, the cost of attendance per semester is US$6,480 while part-time graduate students pay tuition cost at a rate of US$370 per credit hour. To help ease the burden of paying tuition costs, the university extends financial aid in the form of loans, grants and scholarships.
