Montana Tech
Montana Tech of the University of Montana was established in 1893 as one of the four original campuses of the Montana University System. With the restructuring of the system, Montana Tech became affiliated with the University of Montana and officially adapted its present name. The College of Technology, formerly known as the Butte-Vo-Tech was included in the administrative umbrella of Montana Tech.
Located at 1300 West Park Street, Butte, Montana, Montana Tech is found midway between Yellowstone and Glacier Park. Its location provides abundant opportunities for outdoor recreation. With its campus on a hill, learning is made more pleasurable with the sceneries of historic and beautiful Uptown Butte.
There are about 2,200 students enrolled with Montana Tech’s various programs in education and research in minerals, energy engineering, natural science, liberal studies, technology, environment, nursing, business economic development and technical communication. The university’s College of Technology offers certificates of applied science for network technicians and computer assistants as well as associate of applied science degrees in network technology, civil engineering technology and other business, technical and health options. The average class size is 19 while the student/faculty ratio is 16:1.
Programs are offered by Montana Tech’s colleges and schools comprised of the College of Letters, Science and Professional Studies; School of Mines and Engineering, Graduate School and the College of Technology. Co-ed residence hall facilities can accommodate up to 300 students. Rooms for single occupancy cost $ 3,146.00 per academic year while rooms for double occupancy cost $ 2,788.00 per year. Tuition and fees for 12 credits per semester costs $ 19,518.00. Other expenses may include books/personal expenses and health insurance.
