Keene State College

Keene State College is a public, liberal arts college located in Keene, New Hampshire. Founded in 1909 as Keene Normal School with the purpose of training would-be teachers, Keene State College today has expanded its student population to include at least 1/4 of the total population of the city of Keene. In fact, there are at least 5,282 students enrolled at Keene State College today coming from 27 states and four countries outside of the U.S. The student to faculty ratio is 18 to 1, insuring that the students are given the correct amount of attention they need for their studies.

The college offers a comprehensive liberal arts education core curriculum made up of general education subjects that help students better appreciate and understand their chosen major field of study. They then seek higher education and work for their Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts,
Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Science, and Master of Education degrees.

Academically, the college is divided into the School of Arts and Humanities, School of Professional and Graduate Studies, School of Sciences and Social Sciences, and the Division of Continuing Education for students who want to complete their degrees at a time and place most convenient for them.

Cost of tuition and fees for 2009-2010 at Keene is US$17,508 for fulltime New Hampshire residents and US$25,678 for non-residents. These costs include full-year tuition, mandatory fees and room and board. As a form of assistance to its students, the college is extending financial aid in the form of loans, grants and scholarships.
