Drew University
Drew University was first established in 1867 as the Drew Theological Seminary but the school was expanded in 1928 to include a College of Liberal Arts initially for men then co-educational by the 1940s. By 1955, graduate studies were introduced in the university. Although the Methodist Church is closely affiliated with Drew, today the university does not make any religious demands on its students.
With three distinguished colleges within which to choose a degree – a traditional liberal arts college, a humanities-centered graduate school, and a school of theology – Drew University students enjoy a unique opportunity to pursue knowledge not commonly available to all students pursuing higher education.
There are presently 2,500 students enrolled in Drew University with 155 full-time faculty members to assist them in their pursuit of knowledge. The student to faculty ratio is 12 is to 1 with a typical class having no more than 20 students.
For academic year 2009-2010, the total cost of admission for undergraduate students of the College of Liberal Arts is US$47, 678 including a fee of US$6,702 for room and US$3,666 for board. This total does not include other standard fees for freshman students. For graduate school, the total admission cost for full-time freshmen is US$55,497 (Ph.D./M.A.); US$57,812 (M.A.T.); and US$60, 047 (international students). Returning students only need to pay US$55,347 for Ph.D./M.A.. As a form of assistance for students who may find the cost of admission too steep, Drew University is extending financial assistance via loans, scholarships and part-time employment for students who qualify.
On-campus housing is guaranteed for Drew University students from Freshman to Senior year. Some 95% of enrolled students are currently living on campus.
