Georgian Court University

Georgian Court University is located in a quiet residential area in Lakewood, New Jersey. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy of New Jersey in 1908, Georgian Court University is a private Roman Catholic co-educational university with a Women’s College undergraduate program with classes held in the daytime and various undergraduate and graduate programs.

As declared in its mission statement, the goal of the university is “to provide a comprehensive liberal arts education in the Roman Catholic tradition.” It offers certificate and degree programs in various majors through its two distinct colleges; namely, the Women’s College and the University College. Within each of these two colleges are four schools: the School of Arts and Humanities, the School of Sciences and Mathematics, the School of Business, and the School of Education.

Currently, there are 1,995 undergraduate students and 1,090 graduate students enrolled at the university. To mentor them, there are 101 full-time faculty members, 83% of whom hold the highest degree in their chosen field. With a student to faculty ratio of 14 to 1, the students are assured of personalized education.

Cost of attendance for fulltime students for academic year 2009-2010 is US$24,832 for tuition and fees; US$9,386 for room rental; and US$600 for books and supplies for a total package cost of US$34,818. For part-time students, cost of tuition per credit rate is US$570 for undergraduates and US$695 for graduate enrollees. In addition, students have to pay a graduate general fee of US$103 plus a graduate technology fee of US$105.

To help ease the burden of paying the total admission rate, the university extends financial aid in the form of loans, grants, and scholarships to students who qualify.

Three on-campus residential facilities are available for full-time students enrolled in the Women’s College.
