Albany Medical College

Albany Medical College is the educational arm of Albany Medical Center based in Albany, New York. Founded in 1839, it is actually one of the first private medical schools in the country. The college prides itself in providing excellent medical education, both in the classroom and in practice.

The college offers a wide range of majors spread throughout their main divisions. These divisions are as follows:

More than the traditional degree programs, Albany Medical College places high emphasis on giving their students the opportunity to explore various fields of interest to further their medical education. The college is also known for its unique admissions program, which aims to seek out minorities. They have a Minority Affairs Office which oversees this activity. The main admissions policy also requires that students have to have at least 3 years of college work in an accredited educational institution. There are no options for transferring students.

The number of students in a class varies but in general, classes have around 130 students. The faculty to student ratio is average.
