Boricua College
Boricua College is a private, non-profit institution of higher learning located in New York. Undergraduate tuition is about $ 9,000.00 for the fall and spring terms and $ 1,200.00 for the summer term. Graduate programs cost approximately $ 11,000.00 per term. Cost of books and supplies is estimated at $ 400.00 a year.
Facilitation has always been the key method of instruction for Boricua College. It follows therefore that its Educational Facilitators as the full-time faculty of the college are called, are likewise considered as the key figures in the Boricua’s educational program. Each facilitator is responsible for 22 students met either individually or in small groups for every week of the learning cycle.
Boricua’s academic year is made up of three sessions. The fall session starts on September while the spring session starts on January consisting of 15 weeks each. The summer session runs for 8 weeks. Completed application forms can be submitted at any of its four accepting locations: the Manhattan-Audobon Terrace Campus, the Brooklyn Campus-Northside, the Bronx Center and the Brooklyn Campus-Graham which are all found in New York.
An extraordinary opportunity for collaborative learning exists in the regular colloquium for faculty, staff and the students. It is a chance to communicate goals and concerns with regards to how the college is working. The faculty meets weekly while senior level administrators meet periodically. Students have theirs every term. A colloquium is just one of five parts of the college’s distinctive way of learning called Individualized Instruction, the other four being Theoretical Studies, Experiential Studies, Cultural Studies and Individualized Instruction Modules. It currently enrolls 1,100 full-time students in programs leading to Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts and Master of Science degrees.
