Excelsior College
Having a name that means “Ever Upward”, Excelsior College seeks to propel students upward towards the achievement of their educational and personal goals. Its programs provide educational opportunities to adult learners either through distance learning courses or traditional courses offered at a campus in a location most convenient to students. Adult learners can still achieve college-level knowledge in spite of prevailing personal circumstances. Excelsior College was founded in 1971 as the Regents College.
The Middle States Commission on Higher Education has accredited Excelsior College to award associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Programs focus on what students know rather than where or how knowledge was learned. Excelsior’s list of online courses is continuously growing to meet the needs and demands of students. The college’s staff holds office at 7 Columbia Circle, Albany, New York.
Excelsior had four online schools offering more than 30 programs and certifications. These include the School of Nursing, School of Health Sciences, School of Liberal Arts and the School of Business and Technology. Undergraduate programs offer courses in Business and Technology, Criminal Justice, Health Science, Liberal Arts and Nursing while Graduate programs consist of Health Care Informatics courses, MA in Liberal Studies courses, MBA courses and MS in Nursing courses. Undergraduate tuition price per credit is $ 315.00 while Graduate tuition costs $ 425.00 per credit hour.
Excelsior course options include a plan requiring a minimum of 12 Excelsior College course credits to be completed before graduation. This is an option highly suitable for students who need at least such number of credits to complete an associate or bachelor’s degree. The multi-source option does not require Excelsior College course credits.
