Houghton College

Houghton College is a private, four-year Christian liberal arts institution of higher education with its main campus located in Houghton, New York. It maintains other campuses in Buffalo and in Australia and London. Founded in 1883 as Houghton Seminary offering high-school level education, it was only in 1923 that the school was accredited as a liberal arts college. Still maintaining its close association with the Wesleyan Church, the college offers students a core liberal arts curriculum that is Christ-centered.

As an institution for higher education, the college grants Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Music, Master of Arts in Music, and Master of Music degrees.
Today, there are some 1,200 students enrolled at Houghton College from 40 U.S. states and Canadian provinces and 25 foreign countries. These students are guided in their quest for higher education by 94 fulltime faculty members, 80% of whom hold a doctoral degree in their chosen field. With a student to faculty ratio of 12 to 1, the students are guaranteed a close working relationship with their professors.

For academic year 2009-2010, the cost of tuition at Houghton College totals US$31,440 broken down into full-year tuition at US$24,440, room at US$3,780 and board at US$3,220. Additional costs will be charged for required fees, books and supplies and medical health insurance. To help defray the cost of attendance, the college extends financial aid by way of loans, grants, scholarships and student employment.

On-campus housing is available in a variety of living options. There are traditional residential halls, suites as well as apartment type buildings.
