Laboratory Institute of Merchandising

Laboratory Institute of Merchandising or LIM is a private, for-profit college located in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It is the only learning institution in the United States devoted to a study of the business of fashion. Appropriately situated just off 5th Avenue, which is considered the fashion capital of the world, LIM students get the most in terms of internships, field trips and visits to renowned fashion shops and, in the process, build valuable industry connections that will serve them well in their future fashion career.

At the undergraduate level, LIM invites students to choose from among the following four majors: Fashion Merchandising, Management, Marketing, and Visual Merchandising. Regardless of what major is chosen, every student stands to profit from the extremely focused and hands-on training LIM offers.

For graduate students, LIM grants a newly designed, flexible, and industry-oriented MBA program that will prove helpful to professionals who are already involved in the fast-paced and demanding world of fashion. Aside from a Master’s degree, LIM also offers Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees in a wide-range of concentrations all related to the fashion business.

Students enrolled at LIM have access to a modern residence hall right in the heart of the campus which, in turn, is right in the heart of New York City. Basic cost for a full-time student at LIM in academic year 2009-2010 is US$23,289 broken down into tuition of US$19,900, fees at US$525, student accident insurance of US$1.339 and US$1,000 for books and supplies. Those who want to live on campus pay an additional US$15,400 per year. For Graduate students, basic tuition cost is US$665 per credit.
