Utica College
Located in West Utica, Utica College boasts of 128 acres of lawns and green spaces, a welcome reprieve considering its mostly urbanized location, the heart of central New York. It began in the 1930’s as an extension of Syracuse College, until it became its own educational institution in 1946, and a financially and legally independent institution in 1995.
Now, Utica College offers thirty-seven diverse undergraduate degrees such as Business Economics, Nursing, Public Relations, and Teacher Education. It also has seventeen Master’s programs such as Healthcare Administration, Criminal Justice Administration, Professional Accountancy, and two doctoral degrees. Its main strength lies with its health science education, and it is acknowledged to be a leading college in physical therapy and occupational therapy. Notable also is its Masters degree in Economic Crime Management, of which Utica College was the first institution in the world to offer.
Utica College also offers Continuing Education programs that allow working adults to earn their Bachelor’s degrees through night and weekend classes or through online study, and to benefit from a special reduced tuition rate. Available programs include Accounting, Management and Psychology; and Certificate programs in Gerontology, Financial Crimes Investigation and courses leading up to ESL certification.
Utica College’s Joint Health programs allow students to take three years at Utica then have the opportunity to get into a partner professional school. Its pre-professional programs (including pre-dentistry, pre-optometry and pre-law) offer advice and specialized career-oriented support.
