Yeshiva University

Yeshiva University is located in Upper Manhattan in New York City. The school was founded in 1928 and is a Jewish institution of higher learning. Students attending Yeshiva get a liberal arts education along with courses in Jewish heritage and the Torah.

Yeshiva is made up of three Schools: Stern College for Women, Yeshiva College, and Sy Syms School of Business. Approximately 6,200 students are enrolled at Yeshiva and the student-to-teacher ratio is 18:1. Over 77 percent of applicants are admitted, which places this school in the “moderately difficult” category when it comes to admissions. The University is known for its programs in Jewish/Judiac Studies, Law, Medicine, Psychology, and Social Work.

Admission Requirements

The University offers an Early Admission track for high school seniors with distinguished academic records. You will need to submit your SAT Reasoning and Math or ACT equivalent test scores, along with a personal essay and a letter of recommendation from your high school principal or guidance counselor for consideration. Official transcripts are also required. You will also need to arrange an interview with an Admissions officer. Applicants must contact the school to book an appointment.

The deadline for Early Admission is October 15, and you will receive a decision by December 15. This option is for applicants who know that Yeshiva is their first choice and who are prepared to commit to attending if accepted. Applicants who sent in their materials by December 15 will receive an answer by February 15. The University accepts applications for the fall semester until February 1 and decision letters are mailed out by April 1.

Tuition & Financial Aid

Going to Yeshiva to further your education will cost you $30,060 per academic year. Room and board will add another $9,410 to the bill. Each student is required to pay $500 in fees.

Sports at Yeshiva

The Yeshiva University varsity sports teams are called the Maccabees. The teams participate in NCAA Division III in the Skyline Conference and the Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference (HVWAC)Male student athletes compete in a number of sports, including baseball, basketball, golf, soccer, tennis, and wrestling. Varsity teams for women at Yeshiva include basketball, cross country, fencing, and volleyball. Along with intercollegiate-level sports, the University also has intramural and club sports available to students.
