Barton College

Founded in 1902 by the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) as the Atlantic Christian College, Barton College is a private liberal arts college made up of 5 schools. This includes the School of Arts and Sciences, School of Behavioral Sciences, School of Business, School of Education and School of Nursing. The college is located at Wilson, North Carolina.

There are about 1,200 students currently enrolled at Barton College with an average student-to-faculty ratio of 11:1. Both in-state and out-of-state tuition and fees cost approximately $ 19,000.00. Other expenses include the approximate amounts of $ 6,500.00 for room and board, $ 3,100.00 for room charge, $ 3,400.00 for meal plan, $ 1,100.00 for books and supplies and $ 4,000.00 for other mandatory fees. A close-knit residential atmosphere prevails in the campus making it the ideal temporary home of students bent on pursuing excellent higher learning. Campus housing is being availed of by almost 80% of the college’s full-time students.

The student body consists of predominantly white/Caucasian with a substantial percentage of blacks and small percentages of Hispanics and foreign students. Most are within the age range of 18-24 years. Women make up about 70% of the total number of students.
