Cabarrus College of Health Sciences

From its humble beginning in 1942 as the Cabarrus County Hospital offering a three-year diploma course in nursing to only sixteen students to help meet the demand for registered nurses during World War II, Cabarrus College of Health Sciences has grown to offer three baccalaureate completion programs, five associate degrees, two diploma, eight certificate programs and nine success assurance courses.

Cabarrus College of Health Sciences is located in Concord, North Carolina. Over 454 full-time students are enrolled in its programs. Baccalaureate completion programs include nursing, health services leadership and management and medical imaging. Medical assistant, nursing, occupational therapy assistant, surgical technology and associate in science comprise the associate degree programs.

Tuition for Semester 2009-2010 is priced at $ 4,830.00 per semester for 12 – 16 Credit Hours, $ 3,360.00 per semester for 7 – 11 Credit Hours and $300.00 per credit hour for 6 or less Credit Hours.

Out of a total of 895 students enrolled in the 2008-2009 Academic Year, 87% were granted financial assistance amounting to $3 million sourced from a variety of Federal, State and Endowed Scholarships.

Cabarrus College of Health Sciences has seen a substantial increase in attendance representing students who have earned bachelors degrees in other academic areas but are now looking at career opportunities in healthcare. It has also seen a noticeable increase in the number of people visiting the college who have lost a job, or are looking for a career change into healthcare.
