Campbell University
Campbell University was founded on January 5 , 1887 by James Archibald Campbell, a North Carolina preacher who believed that no student should be denied admission because of financial inability.
It is a coeducational university located in central North Carolina. Affiliated with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, it aims to teach a practical Christian education to its students.
The 850-acre campus attributes its natural beauty in part to the donation and planting of 3,200 flowering peach trees by the citizens of Long Beach. Called Buies Creek Academy during its inception, it started with only twenty-one students but has grown steadily through the years.
It offers associate, bachelors, masters, doctoral, and first professional degrees in business, divinity, education, law, pharmacy among others. Graduate programs were begun in 1977 beginning with the Master of Education degree.
The Campbell University School of Law was founded in 1976; The Lundy-Fetterman School of Business, established in 1983; The Schools of Pharmacy and Education, set up in 1985; and The Divinity School, began in 1995.
It now enrolls 4,384 undergraduate students, 70% full-time, 52% women, 48% men. Campbell University is a friendly campus where small classes allow for individualized instruction.
