Fayetteville State University

Fayetteville State University is located in Fayetteville, North Carolina. A historically Black University, its was founded in 1867 by seven African-American men who pooled their resources together to purchase a lot on which they were determined to establish a school for the education of Black children in Fayetteville.

Today, the university is a comprehensive regional university which aims to provide its students with high-quality education that will prepare them for their role as global citizens equipped to deal with the ever-changing demands of a diverse world community. It aims to achieve its mission through the provision of academic programs with a strong liberal arts foundation, focused professional training and definitive graduate programs.

The university offers Bachelor’s degrees, Master’s degrees, and a doctoral degree in educational leadership through its distinguished schools; namely, the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business and Economics, and the School of Education. The university also offers a degree in Military Education with majors in Aerospace Studies and Army ROTC. It also offers Online Degree Completion courses for students who enroll at least 75% of their upper-division coursework online. Students enrolled in the Online Degree Completion course must have completed the university’s college core curriculum.

For academic year 2009-2010, cost of tuition and fees for undergraduate students is US$3,834.52 for in-state, non-boarders and US$14,178.16 for out-of-state non-boarders. For boarders or those who live on campus, the cost of tuition and fees is US$9,254.52 for in-state students and US$19,598.16 for out-of-state students. Tuition cost for graduate students is US$3,807.67 per credit hours for in-state enrollees and US$13,494.16 for out-of-state enrollees. Financial aid in the form of loans and scholarships for qualified students are available.
