Montreat College
Montreat College is a Christian liberal arts college grounded in the Presbyterian (Reformed) tradition. It opened in 1916 as the Montreat Normal School and became the Montreat College in 1934. For a time, specifically from 1959, it used the name Montreat-Anderson College. It reverted to the use of Montreat College in 1995 when it became an accredited baccalaureate institution. It is accredited by the Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate, baccalaureate and master’s degrees.
The main campus of Montreat College is located at 310 Gaither Circle, Montreat, North Carolina. It occupies a 70-acre property in the Blue Ridge Mountains and offers traditional programs. Its satellite campuses in Charlotte and Asheville, both located in the State of North Carolina, offer programs of the School of Professional and Adult Studies. The Black Mountain Campus serves as a secondary main campus.
There are about 1,132 students composed of 462 from the School of Arts and Sciences and 670 in the School of Professional and Adult Studies. Student/faculty ratio is 12:1. Undergraduate degrees include the Associate in Science and Business, Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Management while Graduate degrees include the Master of Business Administration, Master of Arts in Education (K-6) and Master of Science in Management and Leadership. Working adults can earn a business or management degree through programs offered by the School of Professional and Adult Studies.
Estimated educational cost for residential students is $ 27,217.00 per academic year including full-time tuition of $ 20,196.00, student health fee of $ 380.00 and $ 6,541.00 for room and board charge for 17-meals per week. Availment of dorm facilities is subject to availability. All buildings are smoke-free while alcohol is not permitted on any of the college properties.
