Minot State University

Minot State University (MSU) is a regional, public institution founded in 1913 as a normal school to serve the residents of Northwest North Dakota. It is at present the third largest higher education institution in the state. It is located at 500 University Avenue West, Minot, North Dakota. Minot, fondly called the Magic City, boasts of low crime rate, high standards of living and exceptional education standards.

The university’s academic offerings are provided through its three colleges: Arts and Sciences, Business, and Education and Health Sciences. More than 60 majors at the undergraduate level are offered in a mix of liberal arts and professional programs. Completion of the General Education Requirements is a must for all baccalaureate degree students. This consists of a minimum of 38 credits.

Although a non-doctoral university, it is authorized to grant master’s degrees through eleven graduate programs plus a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice offered jointly with the University of North Dakota. These programs include the MS Communication Disorders, MS Criminal Justice, Master of Education, MS Management, MS Information Systems, MA in Teaching Science, MS Special Education, Education Specialists’ Degree in School Psychology and the International Cohort. The Honors Program at MSU consists of a series of courses intended to earn a specific concentration.

Current student population is estimated to be more than 3,000 students. The university’s Center for Extended Learning (CEL) has made it possible for MSU to be available to more students through online classes and video conferencing. CEL Programs are also offered at the Minot Air Force Base and Bismarck State College. Regardless of residency, all students pay the in-state rate of $ 12,022.60 for full-time undergraduate program or $ 12,312.00 for graduate programs.
