University of Mary prides itself on being an institution where students are trained to become servant-leaders (it calls itself a “Leadership University”), and where hospitality and community are of prime value (one of their slogans is, “In U-Mary, you matter”).
Nicknamed U-Mary, it is located in three sites, with its main campus on two hundred acres of picturesque, natural setting in Bismarck, ND. Its two other sites are the Butler Center also in Bismarck, and the Fargo Center in Fargo, ND. It was founded in 1959 by Sisters of the Annunciation, and today still retains its strong Benedictine, Catholic traditions.
U-Mary offers forty-four diverse undergraduate programs such as Accounting, Engineering Science, and Special Education. Its Pre-Professional programs include Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Veterinary Medicine. U-Mary also offers seven Master’s Degree programs including Business Administration, Education, and Management and Nursing; and a Doctoral program-Physical Therapy.
U-Mary is home to the Emerging Leaders Academy, which gives its students to opportunity to receive training for their leadership skills, to gain valuable networks in their chosen fields, to participate in meaningful and relevant projects, and to have the opportunity to receive special honors during graduation. Qualifications for acceptance at the Emerging Leaders Academy are based on the student’s grades during high school, his ACT score, and his active involvement in church, community and high school.
At U-Mary, a student can expect to pay tuition coming to about $11,940, room for $2,200, board for $2,620, miscellaneous fees for $250, and books ranging from $600 to $800. Programs are typically finished in four years. U- Mary waives tuition for a student’s fifth year.
