Defiance Female Seminary
In 1850, the United Church of Christ helped to establish the Defiance Female Seminary which by 1903 had become what we know today as Defiance College. Situated in a residential area in Defiance, Ohio, the campus occupies 150 acres of residential space and is made up of 18 buildings plus the area leading to the 200-acre Thoreau Wildlife Sanctuary.
With over a century’s worth of experience in the field of education tucked under its belt, Defiance College strives to continually give life to its vision of producing graduates that are ready to make an impact in the 21st century society – graduates that eventually become reliable members of the community and responsible leaders in their respective fields.
To achieve its goals, Defiance College has established stringent admission standards for incoming students. A student who is interested to pursue higher education in Defiance College must have maintained at least a B average in high school, present above average ACT or SAT results, and must have accomplished a comprehensive high school academic program.
Defiance offers Associate, Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in a variety of fields like Accounting. Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Criminal Justice, Religious Education, Nursing and many more. The college has 86 faculty members and maintains a student-to-faculty ratio of 15 to 1 with the average class size not exceeding 15 students. The total number of students this Fall is 735.
Cost per year of admission to Defiance College includes US$21,310 for tuition, US$7,150 for room and board, student activity fee of US$240, and technology fee of US$280.
