Denison University
Denison University is a lovely hilltop campus overlooking scenic Granville, Ohio. Despite its seeming small-town ambience, the campus stands at the center an area that is totally accessible to a variety of things to do and places to visit.
As a learning institution, Denison University holds the reputation of being among the nation’s leading liberal arts colleges offering above-standard courses in the fine arts, natural sciences, humanities and social sciences. Now on its 177th year since its founding in 1831, the university has remained true to its commitment to focus only on providing baccalaureate education of the highest order. It has, throughout this time, resisted the temptation to take on graduate degrees and professional schools and instead has chosen to confine its definition of higher education to a well-rounded and intensive undergraduate program that produces distinct and highly motivated graduates ready to take on bigger life challenges.
A residential undergraduate liberal arts college, Denison adheres to the belief that living on campus is a more effective means of developing education as knowledge acquired is not merely theoretical but a product of interaction among the students themselves as they live in community with one another.
There are 2,048 undergraduates enrolled in Denison University, 44% men and 56% women, who are under the guidance and supervision of 203 full-time faculty members all of whom are holders of terminal or doctorate degrees. Committed to providing students with focused education, Denison University’s student-to-faculty ratio is 10 to 1.
For academic year 2009-2010, student tuition and fees total US$45,720. To help students with tuition costs, financial aid is extended by way of merit-based scholarships or need-based loans.
