Franciscan University of Steubenville

The Franciscan University of Steubenville is located in Steubenville, Ohio, just a few miles away from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1946, the college is a private, Catholic learning institution that aims to provide its students with a comprehensive liberal arts-based education that will equip them to deal with the issues and challenges of a life of service to God and to the community.

The university aims to provide its students with higher education that is grounded on the basic Catholic teachings of St. Francis of Assisi. It offers Associate in Arts degrees, Bachelor’s degrees, and Master’s degrees through a wide-range of available majors. Part of the mission of the university is to produce graduates that are able to integrate the various aspects of their education to become effective leaders and useful members of society.

There are currently approximately 2,100 students enrolled in the university across the United States. With a student to faculty ratio of 15 to 1, the students are assured of a focused method of instruction.

Total cost of tuition for academic year 2009-2010 for full-time undergraduate students is US$19,250 per year while tuition cost for part-time students is US$645 per credit. Financial aid in the form of loans, grants, scholarships and campus employment is available for students who find the cost of admission too expensive. On-campus residences are available for students who are interested to apply. The university encourages on-campus residence especially for freshmen because it is one way by which upper classmen are able to interact with them and mentor them.
