Kent State University

Kent State University or KSU is a public research university with its largest and main campus located in Kent, Ohio. It has seven other campuses situated in Ashtabula, Burton, East Liverpool, New Philadelphia, North Canton, Salem and Warren, all in the Ohio area.

Founded in 1910 as the Kent Normal School with the main task of developing teachers and providing them training for future employment, KSU eventually expanded and grew to include other bachelor of arts and graduate programs. During the Vietnam War, KSU gained popularity and became known worldwide for the student protests held against U.S. involvement in the Vietnam war.

Today, KSU’s Kent campus stands as the third largest university in Ohio. It offers students Bachelor’s, Associate’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees in over 300 majors.
Cost of tuition for fulltime students at KSU for Spring 2010 is US$4,363 for resident undergraduate students and US$4,641 for graduate resident students. For non-residents, cost of tuition is US$8,209 for undergraduate students and US$8,271 for graduate students. These rates apply to KSU students studying at the Kent campus and refer only to tuition cost without the mandatory fees and the and other attendant charges such as room and board for resident students. Financial aid in the form of grants, loans and scholarships to qualified students is extended by KSU to assist students in paying for their cost of attendance.

On-campus housing in one of 24 residence halls is available to students who are interested to apply for it. In addition, there are 15 residential learning communities available for occupancy.
