Kenyon College

Kenyon College is a private, liberal arts school located in Gambier, Ohio. Founded in 1824 by Bishop Philander Chase, the college is the oldest private learning institution of higher education in Ohio as further evidenced by its Gothic architecture and rustic setting.

Academically, the college offers its students a comprehensive liberal arts core education that allows them to develop a deeper interest in and understanding of their chosen field of specialization as a result of the general knowledge initially provided. The college grants Bachelor of Arts degrees in a wide-range of majors and graduate and professional degrees in business, education, engineering, law, and medicine. It also has a number of joint programs with other learning institutions.

Today, there are approximately 1,600 students enrolled at Kenyon College, 53 percent of which are women and 47 percent men. These students are guided in their quest for higher education by fulltime faculty members, 99% of whom hold a doctorate or the highest degree possible in their chosen field.

With a student to faculty ratio of 10 to 1, students are assured that their teachers will always have the time to attend to their academic questions in and out of the classroom.

For academic year 2009-2010, the average cost of attendance at the college is US$48,240 broken down into full-year tuition at US$39,810, room at US$3,170 and board at US$4,090 plus mandatory student fees of US$1,170. As a form of assistance to its students, the college is extending financial aid in the form of loans, grants and scholarships.

All students of the college live on campus in either residence halls or apartment-style housing.
