Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma is a multipurpose regional university founded in 1908 whose mission is to offer education programs to citizens living in its service area comprising 11 counties of Southwest Oklahoma. Once at the edge of a city, the 160-acre campus of Cameron University is absorbed by Lawton, Oklahoma.
Cameron University is the only Oklahoma university that offers associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degree training all on the same campus. Cameron University offers 63 bachelor’s degree concentrations, 12 associate degree concentrations, and seven graduate programs. It has expanded beyond its physical campus to include online students and classes broadcast to several sites in Oklahoma using Onenet. Cameron University serves around five thousand students each semester. Most classes have forty students at most. However, several upper class sections have only fifteen students or less.
One of Oklahoma’s seven regional universities, Cameron University is the higher education center of Southwest Oklahoma. As a coeducational institution, it has an enrollment of 5,439 undergraduate students 58 percent of whom are full-time.
Tuition Costs (2006 – 07) for state resident is $2352 full-time, $78 per semester hour for part-time students; nonresident, $7218 full-time, $241 per semester hour for part-time students. Full-time tuition and part-time tuition and fees may change depending on course load. Required fees include $1080 full-time, $36 per semester hour part-time. Room and board: $3282.
Three percent of Cameron University students come from 36 foreign countries, and its U.S. Minority enrollment is 40%: 20% African American, 6% Native American, 8% Hispanic, and 3% Asian.
