City University of Seattle Online
City University of Seattle Online is an online institution that has programs designed to meet the needs of students for flexible study options. Founded in 1973, the university is a private, not for profit higher learning institution. The virtual classroom environment is referred to as the Blackboard which provides the venue for students to get assignments, work on team projects, discuss topics and check grades. The university asserts that while online learning is a great option, only the self-motivated, disciplined and goal oriented are the ones who become successful online learners. The online program has been recognized as one of the Top Twenty universities offering distance learning programs by the Forbes magazine and one of the prestigious universities offering online education by Harvard University. The university online program has received various commendations from other institutions.
There are three major departments offered online. These are the Albright School of Education, Division of Arts and Sciences and School of Management. The Albright School of Education is the third largest provider of teacher certificates. It is also the second largest provider of principals as well as Washington’s largest provider of counselors.
The university implements a “rolling admission” policy where applications and decisions on admission are accommodated throughout the year. Tuition fees vary depending on area of study, location, degree and certificate programs among others. Financial aid and scholarship strictly implements a non-discrimination policy in order to assist students in achieving their academic goals.
